Big Ridge Farm is a new tree, produce, and flower growing operation on a 14 acre property shared with Big Ridge Mountain Club in Glenville, NC. We’re looking for a Farm Manager & Groundskeeper to manage the garden, orchard, apiary, greenhouse, and tree nursery of Big Ridge Farm, while also beautifying the grounds of Big Ridge Mountain Club.

This is an important role
As Big Ridge Farm’s first full-time hire, the Farm Manager will have enormous influence over our growth and direction. We’re using only a small portion of our entire property and, with one real season behind us, we are ready to hire someone who will help us professionalize and expand this operation.

What we need to do right now and in the near future
In the immediate term, we need to prepare the garden for the 2027 cut-your-own-flowers season, sow and nurture new trees through the winter, and give personalized attention to the plantings, paths, and woods surrounding the club’s lodgings. Once all that starts coming together, we’ll make plans for selling vegetables to markets and restaurants, starting a CSA, expanding the team, and bringing sheep to the property. With the support of the owner, the Farm Manager will be directly responsible for all of this.

Attributes & Experience
Great candidates will have hands-on experience gardening, growing flowers or vegetables, and keeping grounds; be comfortable working outdoors in all seasons and keeping a place looking cared for; be reliable, capable of physically demanding work, able to work independently, and glad to learn. Beekeeping and sheep experience are welcome but not required; you can learn both on the job.

Compensation
We expect to start compensation at $22/hour. That could be higher or lower for especially experienced farm managers or promising young people who are early in their careers.
